Ketchum was part of the first photography exhibition ever to be held in the White House, and for 15 years served as curator of photography for the National Park Foundation. He is the author of 10 publications, including “The Tongass: Alaska’s Vanishing Rain Forest,” and since 1968 he has had over 500 one-man and group shows worldwide. The combination of his powerful imagery and his personal activism have made the results of his many projects remarkably successful and placed Ketchum at the forefront of American artists expressing their concern for the environment. He is the recipient of numerous photography, environmental, and humanitarian honors, including the United Nations Outstanding Environmental Achievement Award.
