A reader sent us an interesting video clip of Jim Cramer of CNBC’s “Mad Money” postulating that the Justice Department might be preparing a case against Monsanto because of that advantageous position that it enjoys on the top of the seed market. Cramer mentions that the accusations against Monsanto made in the 2009 documentary “Food Inc.” might serve as substantial cause to launch an accusation. “Food Inc.” includes a segment discussing the fact that Monsanto has sued over a hundred farmers for patent infringement, in many cases as a result of those farmers cleaning and saving seed, even when that seed was not originally purchased from Monsanto.

As additional background information, as a result of their acquisition of Delta and Pineland in 2007, it is estimated that Monsanto now controls 9o% of the market for cotton seed and cotton traits.
