Grass-fed beef is not only delicious, it’s actually healthier, and for those who are interested, the natural way of eating beef. No hormones, antibiotics or harsh treatment of animals involved. (Hearst beef is certified humane treatment of the animals). But all that aside—it’s tender and delicious (and not all grass-fed beef I’ve had is). You do have to cook it less as there is less fat—you don’t want to eat it well done. I can’t say enough about this product—I order it often. Love the filets and sirloin steaks. It’s also the only ground beef & hamburger I’ll eat.

Hearst Ranch Beef Mention From Chefsblade.com

I can’t say I’ve actually had a true slow food meal. I’d like to but it’s virtually impossible to meet all the tenets of it around here. I can usually do organic and/or local (for the most part) and I can get grass fed, certified humane beef from Hearst Ranch, but some of the other tenets of it are almost impossible to live up to. BTW, does Slow Food include humane treatment of farm animals? I didn’t see it on the list in the other post.

MIchael Pollan Speaks At Cal Poly

Pollan, who will be speaking today at the Performing Arts Center as part of a panel, has written a number of books about food and the way in which it is produced including, “The Omnivore’s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals” and “In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto.” Pollan has spoken all over the country and agreed to help SARC raise money at a dinner and give a free speech to Cal Poly students.

Hearst Ranch Featured At Virgil Harton Art Show In Mt. Shasta

Harton has been an architect and watercolorist. He has painted pictures from his travels around Europe and the United States. He was commissioned to do artwork such as the image of the Lavender Farms found on their product packaging.

He was commissioned by the Hearst Corporation to paint images from Hearst Ranch, a supplier of free-range, all-natural, grass-fed and grass-finished beef.
