Two-thirds of US cattle farms and ranches have been in the same family for two generations or more. American cattle farmers and ranchers have embraced the values of Earth Day for generations, and Americans recognize that commitment. Eighty-six percent of Americans surveyed think cattle farmers and ranchers are committed to environmental preservation.

Hearst Ranch Beef Story At USATODAY.com
As far as I could see, I was viewing part of the 80,000 acres (128 square miles) of the Hearst Ranch. Part of my Paso Robles trip involved a visit to this ranch, to check out their grass-fed cattle ranching operation, as well as to taste the meat.

Laureen at Relishedfood.com recently posted a story about Grass-fed Beef that mentioned Hearst Ranch Beef. It was in response to a recent Time Magazine article entitled “How Cows (Grass-Fed Only) Could Save The Planet”. Thanks for the mention Laureen:
"We eat meat about twice at week at our home, usually when my son is with us (big meat eater). I have been buying Hearst Ranch Beef at New Frontiers and am in the process of researching other ranches on the Central Coast and will be posting resources for those soon.”

Hearst Ranch Beef Featured On McDuff's Wine Blog
What does make it unique is what makes it all possible in the first place — the curious mix of ostentation, privacy and philanthropy that have been part and parcel of the Hearst family legacy for the past 150 years. That and the sheer beauty of the place….

Grass-fed vs. Grain-fed Tasting on NPR
As Steve Hearst often says, we love all kinds of beef. The flavor of grain-fed beef is different than grass-fed beef, just like different varieties of wine have different flavor characteristics. Some people prefer the flavor of a nice USDA Prime grain-fed steak over a less-marbled grass-fed one. There is a special place in our heart for both.

Great Story On Hearst Ranch Beef From The Passionate Foodie
The meat was very flavorful, with a nice beefy taste. I think my favorite was the New York strip, though the ribeye was a close second. I certainly devoured a fair share of the beef, and probably could have eaten even more if I hadn’t been headed to dinner afterwards. So, you do get a very delicious and healthy piece of beef for the higher cost.

Cheers To Emma Hearst
We wanted to take a moment to propose a toast to Emma Hearst, who is, above all else, a brilliantly talented chef and a cherished customer of Hearst Ranch Beef. If you are in New York City, do yourself a favor: go down to 95 Allen Street and have a meal at Sorella.
